Scott Hansen took a long and crazy journey to get to us as our lead pastor. He was born and raised in California. His pre-college days include becoming an Eagle Scout (what a geek!), traveling Europe a couple of times in a pop music group, and singing in a rock & roll band. At the end of his senior year in high school, Scott lost his oldest brother in a tragic automobile accident. It was this family crisis that eventually led Scott to begin secretly reading the Bible and coming to know Jesus Christ in a direct, personal way. Scott wrote: "Once I had this encounter with the Living God and realized that Jesus Christ was really there to forgive me, love me, support me and lead me... once I fully grasped that I was not alone in this world... there was no turning back for me."

Scott became a Christ-follower in 1978, and about six months later moved to Fresno. While working through his Business Administration Degree at Fresno State, he was a part of our church (yes... way back then!) and began cutting his teeth in various areas of ministry like music, evangelism, discipleship and leadership. He even stole a girl from our college group (Michelle Crum) for his wife, getting married the same day he graduated in 1981. After that, Michelle and Scott ditched us and moved to Kentucky to own and operate two singing telegram services. (We warned you this guy is a nut!) Scott's actual call into ministry came in 1982, and the next year he began a three-year seminary program followed by 18 years of service as a missionary in Europe (serving with TEAM - The Evangelical Alliance Mission). In the midst of all that, he helped make three babies (Ryan, Valeri and Jennifer) as the Hansens were preparing to head to Europe as missionaries.

Scott and Michelle started a brand new church in Faenza, Italy before launching two other big ministries: teaching Bible seminars throughout Italy and developing an evangelistic music ministry. Yes, our very own pastor has written and recorded 5 CDs of contemporary Christian music (4 in Italian, one in English), performed hundreds of concerts, had his music on the radio for years, and traveled as a music evangelist in over a dozen nations, including Turkey and Tunisia! You should have seen this guy when he had long hair! He looked like a Christian version of Yanni!!

In the Spring 2005, The Bridge (formerly EV Free) nabbed Scott and made him the big Kuhuna around here. He is a multi-talented guy, a great communicator, a visionary leader, a fun-loving (loud) team-player, and his international flair really helps out. Some day you need to stop by his office and check out his 8,000-piece puzzle of the Sistine Chapel that hangs on his wall!
